Hello all!
You may be wondering—wait, why am I now receiving a substack newsletter to learn about the happenings of Good Day Studios/Shop? That is because we are trying our darnedest to keep our limited resources in the community and not siphoned away by tech companies! Huzzah! Hence, getting off a paid newsletter platform (that, btw, wasn’t that great) and onto one that even offers us the opportunity to do fundraising for the community artist hub vision we are working on.
And thus, substack. Please note, you do NOT need to pay to receive updates on upcoming Good Day events and offerings—you don’t even need to have a substack account! But, if you do want to do either of those, we encourage you to follow your dreams and desires.

Enough housekeeping! Because we got some EXCITING things to share with y’all! First and foremost: a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone came out and contributed to our last two events: the Spring Fling Open House and the revival of GEMS (aka Good Evening Music Series)! We are especially grateful for the Humboldt County Animal Shelter and Redwood Pals Rescue, Pop Culture Healing, Down to Earth Vintage, Zach Gentry, Rad Bromance and Luna Sofia for contributing their time, energy and talents to both of these events!
Join us as a resident artist (& support now available!)
Secondly! We still have TWO SPOTS available for resident artists to join us at Good Day Studios! AND…we have been gifted a VERY generous scholarship to cover the first month rent ($250) for an artist who is in a position where that would help them make the leap to become a resident.
Resident artists receive 24/7 access to the communal work space, as well as a full kitchen, bathroom and lounge area. We host two community events each month in the space and work with the artists to ensure their belongings are secure during such events—and highly encourage the residents to join us in being part of said happenings!
Rent for residents is $250/month, with a $100 security deposit, which covers all utilities. If you are interested in learning more about checking out the space, or have any questions about what being a resident artist entails, as well as inquiring about the scholarship, please reach out to Marta at hello@gooddayhumboldt.com.

Have some delicious small pieces of visual art you’d like to share with the community? Submissions close for “Multitudes: an Immersive Multi-Arts Experience” TOMORROW, on Thursday, April 30!
To submit work to be part of the visual portion of the show (which will also include collaborative poetry and live music performances), please email hello@gooddayhumboldt.com with the subject “Multitudes” and include: a bit about who you are and jpgs of the small (less than 8” x 10”) pieces (1-3) you’d like to be considered for the show. We can’t wait to see what you have to share!

We are THRILLED to welcome Geneva Elise of Pop Culture Healing as a resident in May! Geneva will be offering walk-in Tarot Readings throughout the month, Thursdays-Saturdays, from 12-4, starting Saturday, May 2. While there, you can also peruse a carefully selected collection of vintage treasures to get your spring looks looking hot!
Find Geneva and get the insight you seek in Good Day Studios, at 1040 H. St. in Arcata, in the alley behind AMPT Skate Shop!

Saturday, May 9: Mr. Taco Pop-up (in front of Good Day Shop) with craft swap and community art project (bring a found object to contribute to our community-created sculpture!) in the studio, from 12-4 p.m.
Saturday, May 23: “Multitudes” art show—celebrate Gemini season with a multi-disciplinary art show with visual art and collaborative performances from poets and musicians! Visual art preview 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., show opening with performances 6-9 p.m.
Wednesday, June 10: Gentle June Moment with tarot, breathwork and more!
Saturday, June 27: Good Evening Music Series, line up tbd!
